TCL 560 with iris scanner hits India at Rs 7999

The TCL 560, the first local smartphone offering by the Chinese brand best known for its TVs, has made its debut in India. The manufacturer is gunning for the entry-level market segment with the new phone, slapping it with a competitive Rs 7999 price tag.

The Indian handset sector is already flooded with Chinese brands fighting for relevance in the country. The TCL 560 offers a few stand-out features to help it differentiate itself from its rivals. For one, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out-of-the-box. Google’s latest OS is several months old now but is yet to become a common standard among affordable handsets in the nation.

For another, the 560 comes with a cool Eye Verify technology which uses biometric technology to scan your eyes using the phone’s 5MP front-facing camera. While such an unlocking system exists in other phones, it’s not a widespread feature, especially among budget handsets.
