Tata Sky Mobile Access unleashed for iOS platform

Tata Sky Mobile Access Tata Sky in association with Ryz Media has launched a mobile access app designed especially for Apple devices. This new Tata Sky mobile access will enable subscribers to use their Apple devices, like iPhones, as a universal remote for their home electronic devices. Apart from this, it also allows subscribers to use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to share what you are watching on TV.

The Tata Sky Mobile Access can be used as a program guide to access 4-day program listings and also record subscribers’ favorite TV shows on the go. Besides, it gives users comprehensive information about movies and also allows searching a program based on its name. Through this app, the subscriber can also know and view what their Facebook friends are watching. A similar app for Android devices is also in the pipeline.

“Over the last one year, India has witnessed an explosion of tablets and smart phones combined with an unprecedented popularity of social platforms like Facebook and Twitter across all age groups. The Tata Sky Mobile Access App is a natural integration of TV entertainment with these smart devices allowing subscribers to not only control their TV and set-top boxes with their smart devices, but also make their content choice based on what their friends and family are viewing. This is the first-of-its-kind functionality offered by any DTH service provider in India,” said Vikram Mehra, Chief Marketing Officer of Tata Sky on this launch.

Although to utilize the universal remote functionality, the Apple device requires to be plugged with an orb-shaped MP3 mobile accessory. This will enable users to control their Tata Sky set-top boxes, TVs, amplifiers and DVD players.

This accessory will be given free of cost to first 1000 users. However, post-promotional period price would be Rs.350 inclusive of shipping and handling. Tata Sky Mobile Access will work across company’s all set-top boxes. It can be downloaded free of cost from the iTunes store.
