Tata Indicom, ADC Krone Team up for Mobile Update Service for Fishermen

ADC Krone and Tata Indicom Logo ADC Krone, a solution provider of network infrastructure has teamed up with Tata Indicom to provide information to fishermen about the weather and fishing conditions on their mobile phones.

The company stated that the pilot project will take place under the support of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation at Veerampattinam which is in Tamil Nadu, a southern state in India.

“Fishermen will hereafter spend far less time at sea, as they will know before sailing the weather conditions, wave height and wind velocity and direction,” said Krone.

Bala Chandran managing director, Krone commented, “The project is aimed at equipping the fishing community with weather knowledge, concentration of fish pools and safety messages. It will also minimise loss of life.”

The application will be used by approximately 5000 villages along the coast. India has a coastline of 8,118 km which is 2.02 million sq km. This application will soon be available in commercial service.
