With this next offering, anyone can view live security footage streamed seamlessly to their smartphones’ screens no matter where they are. Swann has announced the availability of its new DVR kit dubbed DVR4-2600 for smartphones which enables remote viewing of content it captures. The kit includes all the necessary equipment and software required to install a surveillance system.

The DVR kit permits users to remotely view live feed straight from the office or home right on a 3G-enabled smartphone. A variety of supported smartphones include iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile 6 and the iPad tablet. The monitoring activity using a smartphone requires a few simple steps to be followed for easy set up.

After the DVR and cameras are installed in the preferred premises, iPhone users need to download the free ‘SwannView’ app from the iPhone AppStore, while the same app is also available in a CD accompanying the kit for other platforms. Alternatively, it can also be downloaded via the company’s official website. Once the app installed in the smartphone, just entering the DVR’s IP address into the browser would start streaming live video from all four cameras.

“This is a flagship product for Swann in 2011. It brings together video surveillance with phone connectivity and convenience as never before. We are very excited to have launched it and it had a great response from our live demos at CES”, shared Jeremy Stewart, VP Global Marketing, Swann Communications.

The kit comes equipped with a 500GB hard drive that can easily record feeds continuously from four cameras for up to 30 days or more. It also packages four PRO-580 optional color cameras with aluminum casing and night vision capabilities. The surveillance kit sports a USB port for transfer of incident footage to PC or for easy back up. The system can be connected to any LCD monitor or TV using VGA output.

The DVR4-2600 kit along with four cameras will be up for grabs from March through Swann’s network of retailers for $449.
