The 4G-enabled Oppo R5 which currently holds the record for being the second thinnest smartphone in the world, has hit India finally with its price set at Rs 29990. The company has clearly done this with the idea of beating the competition as the world’s slimmest smartphone, the Vivo X5 Max, is available in the country right now at a higher Rs 32980 tag.
The Oppo R5 grabbed a great deal of attention when it was unveiled owing to its 4.85mm thin body. Vivo was however, quick enough to steal the ‘world’s thinnest’ crown from it, as its new X5 Max flaunted an even slimmer 4.75mm profile.
The Oppo handset has been blessed with a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display, while it runs the 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 processor. 2GB worth of RAM is on offer through the handset, apart from 16GB of storage space which cannot be expanded further due to the lack of a microSD card slot.

Another limitation that the R5 faces is that it does not kick in a 3.5mm audio jack. This will make listening to music a Bluetooth affair for all those who buy it. Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front one.
