The Oppo R5 went official towards the end of December with pre-orders commencing earlier this month and now, the smartphone has finally landed in stores. So if you’ve booked a unit or two already, you might want to visit a retail location to get your hands on the super slim release.
The Oppo R5 is a marvel of a smartphone as it comes with a unique design and even great features. The handset is one of the slimmest releases on the market measuring just 4.85mm which is ridiculously thin, but not the leanest. The Vivo X5 Max has a waistline of 4.75mm that isn’t much lesser compared to the former, but a huge achievement as even slicing off a few millimeters is extremely tough at this size.
The Oppo smartphone falls in the upper mid-range category and it has managed to squeeze in some pretty good features. The front panel accommodates a 5.2-inch 1080p FHD Super AMOLED display and a 5MP selfie camera, while the rear has a 13MP Sony shooter.

Android 4.4 KitKat runs the show and is powered by a 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 processor. There’s even 2GB of RAM, but what’s disappointing is that the internal storage is limited to 16GB and the battery capacity is a mere 2000mAh. Also, just because the smartphone is ridiculously slim that doesn’t mean it’s fragile. The video below offers a good look at how much device can endure.
Here a quick look at the Oppo R5’s specifications:
– Android 4.4 KitKat (Color OS 2.0)
– 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 SOC
– 5.2-inch Super AMOLED 1080p touchscreen
– 2GB RAM, 16GB non-expandable storage
– 5MP front shooter, 13MP rear imager
– 2000mAh battery
– 4G LTE connectivity
