Super Monkey Ball for iPhone tops with 300,000 copies sold

Monkey Ball Game,Apple,SegaApple’s recently launched App store is strengthening iPhone’s position as a gaming platform. In just 20 days, Sega’s Super Monkey Ball game for iPhone has managed an impressive sale of nearly 300,000 downloads.

Sega’s front running iPhone game will make the company a huge profit at $9.99 a pop as 70 % of the revenue is kept with the program creators. Sega U.S. President Simon Jeffery, remarked, “That’s a substantial business. It gives iPhone a justifiable claim to being a viable gaming platform”

The Super Monkey Ball is clearly the most successful of the iPhone releases. Though 300,000 copies in 20 days is not really a large number as compared to traditional game systems with blockbuster releases that reach nearly a million in a week or so, the game is not far behind. These figures will surely boost developers to make games for the iPhone. This is the first step that especially combines low development costs with the ability to side-step retail chains with digital delivery.

With innumerable iPhone owners rushing to buy the App Store’s star launch game; it doesn’t come as a surprise that the two companies have raked in $3 million in revenue in less than a month on sale.
