Cricket logoPreviously it had been reported that Samsung Messager Touch was available through Alltel Wireless. The handset is now available through Cricket as well. Other than this handset, Cricket also reveals plans to expand its device lineup and introduces an array of exciting smartphones, touchscreens, feature phones and broadband devices by end of this year.

On Cricket’s Analyst Day, the company released the Blackberry Curve 8530, Kyocera Sanyo ZIO and the Samsung Messager Touch. Extending its consumer movement to prepaid wireless, they look forward to meet the requirements of not just talk and text, but also the demand for mobile data services.

“We are determined to make Cricket the best provider of value-driven services in the prepaid wireless industry, and with our new device lineup, available on our true 3G network, we have taken a big step toward achieving that goal. Our Smartphones and touchscreen devices will be affordable to millions of consumers and these new, higher-end devices will also compliment new, all-inclusive service plans that will be priced to drive increased ARPU. As the shift toward the use of Smartphones, touchscreens and tablet devices continues, we believe we are improving our position to capitalize on the rapid growth in this area,” explainedDoug Hutcheson, Leap’s president and CEO.

By the end of the year, the company plans to introduce a total of 15 new devices in the market. The list includes the Kyocera Domino that was released on July 20, broadband devices such as the Cricket Crosswave and low-cost Android phones from Huawei and the Cricket TXTM8 3G with QWERTY keypad.

Hutcheson further continued, “Our customers, like all wireless users, have evolved from seeking low-cost devices to more feature-rich phones including Smartphones and touchscreens. Our understanding of the full breadth of this trend is reflected in a balanced phone lineup that features the latest technology with affordable pricing, along with new, value-rich service plans.”

The Kyocera Sanyo ZIO is a sleek touchscreen smartphone which runs on Google’s Android platform. This handset comes packed with unlimited HTML web browsing, email, messaging and media sharing. Users can also enjoy an array of applications through the Android Market. Besides, the Blackberry Curve 8530 is scheduled to release on August 6. Packed with a full QWERTY keypad, this handset is crafted with a unique trackpad design. It features music and video and enables 3G speed HTML web browsing. Users can download thousands of applications from the Blackberry App World.

The company also reveals two low-cost phones namely, the Cricket CAPTR II and the Cricket MSGM8 II. In the near future, it intends to offer an improved user interface for the Samsung Messager Touch with the Cricket MyHome Screen and top-of-the-line enjoyment in multimedia, data and voice. Other than this, Crosswave that enables PCs connect to various wireless devices from a range of up to 30 feet will also be introduced. In the coming week, Cricket also intends to launch two modems mainly, Huawei 1705 modem and the Cricket A605 USB modem.
