Just a couple of days back, we had penned a post pertaining to Verizon Wireless introducing the all new Motorola Droid Bionic at the CES. Today, Sprint doffs the silk off another Motorola offering, christened i866. This handset is a complete opposite to Verizon’s device owing to its slide-out QWERTY keypad and rugged form factor.

The i866 boasts of being the first phone which blends the QWERTY with the power-packed features of Nextel Direct Connect. The service offers a complete bouquet of services including Direct Connect, Group Connect, International Direct Connect, Direct Talk, Group Messaging, Direct Send, and Next Mail.

This handset has been crafted to meet several military specification 810G requirements regarding dust, vibration, shock, low and high temperature, low pressure and solar radiation. The phone is fitted with a 2.2-inch 65K TFT display offering a resolution of 240 x 320p. Along with the slide-out QWERTY keypad, the device even endows handset owners with an alpha-numeric one.

Other features subsume access to email, including Exchange ActiveSync, POP3 and IMAP, an MP3 player, GPS as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR. The phone packs in a 2.0 megapixel camera and camcorder with digital zoom.

On the memory front, it is boxed with a 2GB card and renders support to an additional storage support of up to 32GB. The inclusion of the 1380 mAh Lithium-ion battery provides users up to 4.08 hours of talktime. It is sized up at 4.58 x 2.01 x 0.73 inches and weighs 4.98 ounces.

The Motorola i866 is coming through Sprint is price tagged at $79.99 along with a $50 rebate and two-year contract.
