South Korean Man possibly killed by Mobile Phone Battery explosion

Exploding Mobile Phone On November 28 2007, a South Korean worker died due the explosion of a mobile phone battery which was suspected by the cops. The death was denied by the mobile phone manufacturer.

The man was only identified by his family as Su. He was found dead at his workplace in a quarry on Wednesday morning and his mobile phone battery was melted in his shirt pocket, a police official in Cheongwon reportedly said.

The police official said, “We presume that the cell phone battery exploded.”

According to Kim Hoon, a doctor who examined the body, “He sustained an injury that is similar to a burn in the left chest and his ribs and spine were broken.”

Kim further continued, “It is presumed that pressure caused by the explosion damaged his heart and lungs, leading to his death.”

The police have found out that the handset was made by the South Korea’s LG Electronics.

However, after the confirmation of the handset the company has not commented on the incident directly and even the cause of the incident is not confirmed.
