Sony Xperia Z1 mini leaked in new colors, Samsung Galaxy J shows up too

Rumors of Sony launching a mini Xperia Z1 surfaced way before the flagship Honami was announced and like its larger sibling, leaks and rumors have left no stone unturned where design and specifications are concerned. The latest slipup comes from Japanese carrier Docomo as a brochure filled with upcoming smartphones has made it out in the open.

Amongst the many handsets is the Xperia Z1 mini which will be known as the Z1 f SO-02F in Japan. The document indicates that the handset will be available in four color options, namely black, white, pink and lime, while there’s no mention of purple as yet. Where hardware is concerned, the device will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

Like its larger sibling, the handset will be IP58 water- and dust-resistant and it will feature 2GB of RAM. However, the Z1 mini will be smaller measuring 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.4mm and the display size will be dropped down to 4.3 inches with 720p HD resolution.

These details arrive courtesy of Japanese blog Rbmen that also notes the existence of a Galaxy J smartphone from Samsung. By the looks of it, the handset could be a Japan specific variant of the S4 flagship. And like the LTE-A model, this one is also powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. However, the RAM has been increased to 3GB from 2GB. Other known attributes of the handset include a 5-inch FHD touchscreen, Android Jelly Bean and color options of pink, white and blue.

Both the Xperia Z1 mini and the Galaxy J will be part of Docomo’s winter and spring lineup. There’s no word on whether the latter will be exclusive to Japan, while we’re quite sure Sony will make the compact flagship available globally.
