Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL appear on company website, specs still unknown

The pictures of the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL have slipped out through the Japanese OEM’s website. On the other hand, the company still has to come out with an official press release about the devices.

The Xperia Z and ZL have tried and discarded a number of name tags and finally settled for the ones they hold currently. The latter had apparently gone by the alias Odin earlier, then prepared itself to go global carrying the Xperia X label. But it looks like the company had other plans for it.

Both the phones cling on to more or less the same specifications. This was one of the reasons they were speculated to be launched in separate markets. However, the Odin’s dual SIM capability sets them apart and it turns out this is enough to make them both internationally available.

As seen in the picture posted above, the single SIM version is slightly taller as compared to the other phone even though they each are rumored to bear a 5-inch 1080p display. There may presumably be a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz that brings in the Adreno 320 graphics.

2GB of RAM finds itself within the chassis and contributes to the smartphone’s performance. As 13MP cameras have become the norm with gadgets to be revealed at the CES, it seems Sony has no intention of lagging behind. Users will apparently find a webcam fixed onto the front panel sharing space with the screen.

Now this is one more aspect where the dual SIM device begs to differ from the former phone. It will abjure the trend of carrying a snapper above the display and give refuge to the lens on the bottom right of its front, just like the image denotes.

The Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL may have come to the fore exhibiting their design, but the core specifications are under wraps even now. A post on Engadget remarks that the day the information will dawn upon us isn’t far away considering the phones will soon be unveiled at the CES 2013.

Expected specifications of both variants:

5-inch 1080p touchscreen display
1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU
2GB of RAM
Adreno 320 graphics
13MP camera
