The Sony Xperia Jelly Bean update seems to be within view, after the company spent a bit of time stamping out all that panic about 2011 devices not receiving Android 4.1. So now Sony claims that it is indeed working towards rolling out the latest Google mobile OS to phones launched last year.

According news from these quarters, a company spokesperson inadvertently spread some wrong information about the upgrade on the Sony Mobile GB Facebook page. As per the post, the 2011 Xperia phones were not expected to receive Jelly Bean. However, the air has now been cleared and it’s out that Xperia owners may not have to be left disappointed after all.

“We are actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices, but in the meantime, our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia S and 2011 Xperia smartphones continues as planned. As always, feel free to drop a question below and keep your eyes fixed on the blog, as we’ll be bringing you more on our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia P and other 2012 Xperia smartphones over the next couple of weeks,” states a post on the official Sony Xperia Product blog.
