Sony QX series lens cameras enhance mobile photography

The Sony Cyber-shot QX10 and QX100 lens cameras have been introduced along with the Xperia Z1, SmartWatch 2 and some other devices at the IFA 2013. These compact shooters are said to be capable of redefining mobile photography as they look forward to bridging the gap between point and shoot snappers and smartphone cameras.

Both Sony lenses boast of built-in Wi-Fi and need to be connected to smartphones for allowing the handheld gadgets to record HD quality videos and high resolution images. They resemble actual lenses and allow users to control them via their handsets with a little assistance from the PlayMemories Mobile app. After pairing them up, photographers can turn their touchscreens into viewfinders and click photos, record movies or adjust common settings from a distance.

The aforementioned application is available for Android devices running version 3.1 or later and iOS gadgets. It is possible to pair up devices through NFC and the captured pictures and videos are saved on phone as well as on the camera. Needless to say that you can almost instantly share these images with friends via social networking applications.

Apart from using the lens cameras along with smartphones, potential buyers have the option of employing them as standalone shooters too. The QX100 boasts of a 20.2MP Exmor RCMOS sensor, Carl Zeiss optics, Bionz image processor, manual focus, zoom and much more. As for the QX10, it features Sony G lens, 10x zoom and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization amongst other things.

The Sony QX10 and QX100 are slated to hit stores later this month for prices of $250 and $500, respectively.
