Xperia PlayStation Phone

The PlayStation Phone has surely been in an on again-off again relation with the tech realm. Although still unofficial and keeping a low-profile, it seems to be difficult for the Zeus Z1 to hide from the market. Engadget has now revealed supposed true-to-life images of the PSP phone which merges gaming and texting facilities.

The leaked images of the Sony Ericsson handset were first spotted by the website on a Chinese forum. Apparently, the device was earlier said to be powered by Android 2.2 and then there were talks about it running Android 3.0. But since Gingerbread is the latest OS, so it has finally decided feature Android 2.3 in the snaps. The gamers’ fantasy phone may be entitled as the Xperia Play.

With CES beginning soon, we could just take a wild guess that the PlayStation Phone might be unveiled in a few days. Since the images portray a clear look, it might be safe to assume that the device is now nearing the production stage. The slide-out gamepad with a PSP D-Pad and action buttons are lucidly shown in the pictures.

Underlining the Xperia branding, the PlayStation Phone’s snapshots strongly suggest a handset with gaming functionalities instead of the other way around.
