Sony Ericsson’s Cedar green phone now official

Sony Ericsson annunciates the launch of its latest handset, the Cedar, offering a simple way to stay connected at a reasonable price. It presents users with effortless and fast browsing abilities incorporating features like the 3G HSDPA, along with easy access to e-mail and social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

The phone incorporates the Widget Manager 2.0, a function which empowers the user to access social networking via the standby screen. It furnishes a human curvature design for an easy hold, which is prevalent in the entire Sony Ericsson collection. Sony Ericsson strives for greener environment with its GreenHeart initiatives. Keeping up with this, the Cedar consists of several green features like low power consumption charger, recycled plastics, waterborne paint, an e-manual and compact packaging. The handset is apt for those who are conscious of their carbon footprints.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar devices are available in two color combinations, Black-Silver and Black-Red. The handset supports UMTS HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. The phone includes a 2 megapixel camera with video recording. It offers push mail, Bluetooth connectivity and HSDPA. The device bundles up various features such as Media player, FM Radio, video streaming, YouTube and Access Netfront 3.5 web browser.

The Bluetooth enabled stylish handset comes with a 2.2 inch screen. The dimensions of the phone are 111mm x 49mm x 15.5mm while it weighs 84 grams. It boasts of battery life delivering a talk time up to 12 and a half hours and a standby time up to 420 hours. The device empowers users to access functions such as email, exchange ActiveSync and instant messaging.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar is said to be launched in select markets during the third quarter of this year.
