We’ve previously reported about the reasons attributing to the delays in the Android 2.1 upgrade for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Recently, the Sony Ericsson Product blog has elucidated that other than the aforementioned smartphone even the X8 will receive the upgrade. The same software update has also been introduced for the Xperia X10 mini and the mini pro.
The process of the upgrade will be that of a gradual nature by which the company means that it is unsure of the exact time plan when it will be available for the specific kits. This depends on several approvals both local and global. The kits are launched as soon as all the required approvals have been acquired. Some 32 kits have been currently announced enabling users to taste the goodness of Éclair.
Handset owners will have to first check the SI number on the flipside of their phones. Subsequently, they will have to search for it on the blog itself. As soon as the update is ready for other kits it will be included in the list. Not to slip by the company has even added a few kits for X10 users as well.
