Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro were let out during the start of the last year to entice mobile phones buffs the world over. Extending its Xperia line-up of products, Sony Ericsson has now unveiled a pair of next-generation handsets called Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro.

Both smartphones run the latest version Google’s Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS and are powered by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Each of these mobile devices encompasses a 3” multi-touch, scratch-resistant glass Reality Display coupled with Mobile Bravia Engine. Additionally, the enhanced UI permits users to configure up to 16 different apps in the corners of the homescreen.

“We wanted to provide consumers even greater choice across the Xperia range, while building on the success of the original mini series. These turbo-charged smartphones now contain even more power, enhanced functionality, a larger screen and premium features unique to Sony Ericsson. They are packed full of features, making them a perfect choice for consumers looking for all the benefits of Android and Sony in a beautiful and easy to use compact form factor,” commented Steve Walker, Head of Marketing, Sony Ericsson.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia mini and mini pro now incorporate a new ‘Facebook inside Xperia’ feature to provide users with deep social networking integration. The Xperia mini pro includes an optimized slide-out full physical QWERTY keyboard sporting a smart messaging functionality for quick text input. Users can securely manage, edit and view important documents while on the go since these handsets come pre-installed with apps like Office Suite and McAfee anti-virus software.

Each handset integrates a 5MP AF and LED flash-enabled camera equipped with interesting photography features including 720p HD video recording, face detection, face recognition, smile detection, touch capture, geo tagging and more. The mini pro also jackets a front-facing VGA camera for enabling video calling. The stylish Xperia mini will come dipped in black, white, dark pink and blue hues, while the other variant has been tinged in black, white, pink and turquoise colors.

The brand-new Sony Ericsson Xperia mini and mini pro smartphones are slated for official availability across select global markets in the third quarter. The company has not divulged any price details just yet.
