The CES is throwing up some rather amazing treats for the mobile world. The latest one that comes out of the goodie bag is the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc. A rather glisten gem, this handset is the freshest entrant to the Xperia lineup. The company today raised the curtains to display this elegantly sleek device operating on the all new Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

This beauty shows off a 4.2 inch capacitive touchscreen Reality Display. The screen incorporates the Mobile Bravia Engine which proffers a pristine visual indulgence. Sculpted in an arc shape, the device measures 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm size and weighs 117 grams.

Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson, asserted, “We’re starting strong in 2011 by introducing our most exciting Xperia product yet. Xperia arc combines state-of-the-art Sony technology with breathtaking design to entertain and wow consumers. All on the latest Android release.”

Styled in a sleek design, the Xperia arc runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm processor. The blend of Gingerbread and a 1GHz processor presumably offers a swift mobile experience. This is further enhanced with panning and zooming abilities provided by the display.

The one feature that appears to be the most exciting, is the 8 megapixel camera which is loaded with a plethora of functionalities. These include geo-tagging, image stabilizer, smile detection, 720p HD video recording, face detection, auto focus, noise suppression, video light and LED flash. The 8MP imager incorporates Sony’s Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor.

The handset itself is a collection of attributes such as 3D games, aGPS Bluetooth, HDMI, DLNA and Wi-Fi. Moreover, the phone offers Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Google Mobile services including YouTube and the Android Market. Coming to the arc’s storage capacity, it offers onboard memory of up to 512MB, external storage support of up to 32GB and comes packaged with an 8GB microSD card.

Done up in two glistening mysterious shades, the device can be picked up in midnight blue and misty silver. The Xperia arc will hit stores world over within select markets including Japan in the first quarter of this year.
