Sonim XP1, the Toughest Handset introduced by Sonim Technology

Sonim XP1 Sonim Technologies, a US-based mobile telecom company has announced the launch of the new Sonim XP1 handset in Europe.

Sonim XP1 is an IP-54 certified one and is mil-spec approved. It is also a Push-To-Talk enabled GSM mobile phone.

The Sonim XP1 is designed especially for users who work outdoors like in an office. This handset has the capability to withstand shock, water, wind, dust, dirt and extreme temperatures.

According to Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim, “If you’re standing on a construction site with a welding tool in your hand, or are sitting in a catamaran with a hard wind in your face, you really don’t need a fashion accessory nor a multimedia monster, you need a dependable working tool like the new XP1, built for extreme conditions.”

He added, “The Sonim XP1 doesn’t die when exposed to the elements, can be dropped, kicked, tossed into a toolbox or backpack, seen and heard in bright/dark and noisy conditions, and provides reliable voice, push-to-talk and data services.”

Sonim PX1 also comes with a three year of unconditional warranty while a lifetime warranty of mobile phone, other wise the phone will be replaced immediately if needed. Sonium XP1 is the only handset which doesn’t compromise with style, capability and durability.

Joakim Wiklund, co-founder of Sonim Technologies explained, “Research commissioned by us indicated that 70% of outdoor workers refrain from using their phones in the workplace because the phone might break, and 40% have broken their mobile phone in the last year, and common reasons are damage from humidity, dropping and crushing the phone. We are aiming to provide a solution to this problem.”

Sweden has also announced the ‘World’s Toughest Phone Tour’ for Sonim XP1 in Stockholm. This tour begins on December, 3rd 2007 by Örebro, Eskilstuna, Västerås, Norrköping, Jönköping, Göteborg, Halmstad, Helsingborg, Malmö and Uppsala before it ends in Stockholm to December 23rd.

The tour will visit construction sites, building material stores, retailers to demonstrate as well as discuss the torture-test on the mobile phone.
