Softbank Offers Free Calls Service between Mobile, IP Phones in Japan

Softbank Telecom Logo Softbank is working to enable phone calls between subscribers to mobile phones and Internet Protocol phone services free of charge for the consumers.

The company has already started with this service for trail in Hokkaido, Niigata and Ehime. The company is planning to expand the service across Japan. This service will only be activated after seeing the consumers’ response towards the service.

This service known as White Call, is being introduced for the first time in Japan. To be eligible for this service, consumers need to subscribe for both the Softbank Mobile White Plan mobile phone service as well as Softbank BB Corp.’s BB Phone IP phone service using asymmetric digital subscriber lines.

The subscribers of the White Plan mobile service to IP phone need to pay 21 yen per 30 seconds at present which works out to approximately Rs.8, while the users of the BB Phone to mobile phone service will have to pay 21-26.25 yen which is approximately Rs.9.50 per minute.
