Skype uncloaks Skype for Symbian beta

Skype LogoNew handsets running on the Symbian platform are all set to include a new update. Skype is preparing to unfurl their new limited beta for future Symbian phones namely Skype for Symbian. It includes support for Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2 devices.

Skype for Symbian is claimed to be compatible with over ten diverse handsets and it will be attuned with more handsets shortly. Once this beta release is available on the device, users can be sure of receiving amazing attributes of Skype.

It will enable free Skype-to-Skype calling. Users can call mobile phones or landlines by means of Skype credits or subscription. Users can also receive calls with their Skype number. Other features such as instant messaging, group conversations and file sharing are also available with this beta.

Skype for Symbian can also run over Wi-Fi or 3G data connection. Skype also advices to have a limitless data plan when users are running the beta over a 3G connection. Skype also claims that since it is a beta release the quality may not be that superior.

To install Skype for Symbian, a free space of 6MB in the phone’s memory is required. Users can also install over the air or by means of the Nokia PC Suite. Users can also simply receive the application file to the device via Bluetooth.

The Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 devices are compatible with Nokia E71, Nokia E63, Nokia E66, Nokia N82, Nokia E51, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 (8GB), Nokia N81, Nokia N81 (8GB) and Nokia E90.

The Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 devices are attuned with Nokia N96, Nokia N85, Nokia 5320, Nokia 6210 Navigator, Nokia 6210 Classic, Nokia N78 and Nokia N79.
