Although 2011 is coming to an end, there still seems to be some bit of good news left for gaming fanatics this year as the Sega Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II title is all set to zoom out in 2012. The blue hedgehog will be speeding onto various mobile platforms such as iOS, Android and Xbox Live on Windows Phone 7 besides debuting on the XBLA for Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation Network.

The prequel of this game, the Sega Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I had released a year back and according to the company, was quite a success. Its popularity among gamers prompted Sega to develop this sequel which should enthrall fans of the cute, speedy hedgehog with completely new character animations and a revamped physics engine.

“After twenty years in action, it’s clear that Sonic hasn’t slowed down one bit. The first entry in the Sonic 4 saga was a major success. We’ve listened to the fans and been hard at work making sure we recapture that same spirit of fun in Episode II. We hope the fans will enjoy it,” stated Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at Sega of America.
