Seagate TV Remote iPhone app hits iTunes

Seagate TV Remote Controlling Seagate’s media players is set to become easier now for iPhone users with the handset being the only necessity. That’s because, Seagate has announced the launch of their TV Remote application, which enables control of a GoFlex TV or FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player from anywhere in the house using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via Wi-Fi.

The new app requires installation of the latest GoFlex TV HD or FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player firmware on any of the two HD media players, provided that it is located in the U.S. Its interface is similar to the existing media player’s infrared remote controls making it an easy-to-use tool. Since the TV remote app relies on Wi-Fi networks, users need not worry about line-of-sight between the controller and the HD media player. This allows its usage from any room in the house. The app automatically screens a Wi-Fi network to detect the availability of the media players.

In addition, owners of these media players can now enter text into search fields using the keyboard on their Apple device by merely accessing the onscreen button. All the files stored on the hard drives attached to the Segate’s media player can be viewed with relative ease. The app also enables users to stream pictures saved on the Apple product to drives connected to either media players. Further, the photos can also be displayed in full resolution a larger TV screen.

The Seagate TV Remote application is available for downloading through the iTunes Store for free.
