Samsung SSD T3 unveiled in India starting at Rs 10999

The Samsung SSD T3 has found its way to India a couple of months after it was first announced at CES 2016. The external drive’s biggest assets are its speed and tiny size, making it ideal for people in data-heavy fields such as media or IT where fast transfer rates are essential.

The portable Samsung SSD T3 won’t come cheap though, with its price starting at Rs 10999 for the 250GB model. Buyers looking for a higher capacity option will be greeted with a 500GB one which retails for Rs 18999, a 1TB version for Rs 37999, and a 2TB variant for an eye-watering Rs 74999. All are going to be available via Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart and physical stores across the nation.

Samsung asserts that the external drive is 4 times faster than regular HDDs and can achieve read/write speeds of up to 450MB/s. It’s equipped the device with USB 3.1 Type C support and its own TurboWrite and V-NAND technology to make this possible. Furthermore, the palm-sized gadget has been crafted out of metal and coated with anti-scratch urethane.

The SSD T3 comes with a number of protective measures to prevent any damage from taking place. First, there’s a thermal guard to prevent overheating. Second, it doesn’t contain any moving parts in order to stop data from getting corrupted or lost due to bumps and drops. Third, a shock resistant internal frame allows it to handle 1500G or a 2m high drop and live to tell the tale.
