Samsung Omnia i900 to support Windows Mobile 6.5

Samsung Omnia i900 Handset Earlier this year we reported about a new version of the Samsung Omnia i900 that was available in a cool purple color. And now Samsung has made another announcement. According to this announcement, the good old Samsung Omnia i900 will now get a Windows Mobile 6.5 update, reveals Ubergizmo. What more? This update will be made available absolutely free of cost.

The other specifications of the Omnia i900 have not been changed. The Omnia i900 includes a 3.2-inch WQVGA touchscreen and a 5 MP autofocus camera. This camera incorporates various features like WDR, face recognition, smile recognition, image stabilizer, geo-tagging and Auto-Panorama Shot. Boasting of an internal memory of 8GB and a microSD slot to expand it, this handset supports various connectivity features likes GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and HSDPA. The handset also offers support for social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and Flickr.

This software update will also be made available with other Omnia handsets like the Omnia II B7610, the Omnia II B7320, the Omnia Pro B7330, the Omnia i8000 and more. Although Samsung has announced that the update will be made available free of cost, it has refrained from commenting on the release date.
