Samsung Mobiles announced the arrival of its latest phone, R450 featuring a QWERTY keyboard in the US on Friday. This sleek phone is targeted at young users who use messaging applications very often.

The R450 has two keyboards. When closed, the phone looks like a normal candybar handset with a standard number keypad. But it also slides open horizontally to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. The 2.1 inch screen automatically changes to landscape mode when the phone is slid open.

Bill Ogle, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Telecommunications America remarked, “The stylish horizontal slider of the Samsung Messager is easy to use. The Samsung Messager’s attractive layout and QWERTY keyboard is a great fit for people who love text messaging.”

R450 is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera, advanced voice recognition software and Bluetooth support as well as SMS, MMS, IM messaging and email capabilities. Other features include MP3 player, speakerphone and external microSD memory card slot with 2GB support.

The handset comes in the dark black color and it is only available to MetroPC consumers in USA for $199.
