Samsung Electronics introduced the Samsung Jet, one of its recent mobile handset innovations, at a series of worldwide launch events in London, Dubai and Singapore. Samsung Jet combines the benefits of both, sophisticated features of a smartphone and the user friendly interface of a standard mobile phone.
This handset redefines the idea of mobile phone to today’s customers. It claims to be ‘Smarter than a smartphone,’ and supports the newest smartphone features. It incorporates multi-task manager and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, placing user-friendly menu navigations in a sleek and compact design. The mobile device boasts of being the worlds first in both display technology and speed of performance.

The new 3.1” 16M WVGA AMOLED display presents the most vibrant and colorful full touch mobile experience. Additionally it offers a resolution that is four times greater than a WQVGA screen. It possesses an 800MHz application processor that offers spectacular speed and eye catching performance. The accelerated application processor can combine various functions such as navigation and viewing. It enables users to access the various functionalities devoid of lag time or distorted visuals that can disturb the enjoyment. The startling screen adds to the brilliance of the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface. Moreover it encompasses iconic features like motion UI, smart unlock and customizable widget screen.
Samsung offers the Dolfin Internet browser that is designed to permit users to easily surf and access prominent websites including the social networking sites. The browser allows users to have a glimpse of up to five web pages concurrently. Further it permits them to bookmark their most preferred websites as widgets on the homepage of the phone. The dimensions of the phone are 108.8 X 53.5 X 11.9 mm. The handset supports Bluetooth technology v2.1, microUSB, and WiFi. The talk time offered is 492 minutes for 2G and 300 minutes for 3G. However the standby time is 422 hours for 2G and 406 hours for 3G. The memory supported is 2GB or 8GB and it also sports an External MicroSD slot that can be expanded up to 16GB. The handset incorporates 3D media gate and motion-response UI that empowers users to have a dynamic, content-based experience. It provides easy access to six key multimedia functionalities including Photo album, Music player, Video player, FM Radio, Games and internet that can be activated by rolling a six sided cube UI on the screen.
The ‘Smart Unlock’ feature is introduced in this phone that boosts the usage of the touch screen. It enables users to unlock the phone and implement the menu directly by sketching an alphabet letter on the screen. They are also permitted to set the menu as per their wish according to the alphabet letters from A to Z. The ‘smart unlock’ technology facilitates users to program their personalized actions so as to operate the handset. Moreover the mobile phone offers the online widget function to access useful mobile applications and get live information such as weather, news and search engines by online widget downloading. There are 30 plus widgets existing and users can download more from the website. These also include a personalization widget to adjust the screen layout and wallpaper.
The gadget features A-GPS that offers navigation services in 3D, to convey real places, information and directions in real-time. Moreover it includes 3D Map Navigation, GPS on Google maps and location-based services. The GPS system offers Geo-tagging powered with a Geo-magnetic sensor. It enables users to send location information and updates on traffic conditions by SMS, link location information to navigation, and a compass. Samsung Jet’s GPS application can operate on ‘Drive to’ or ‘Walk to’ modes.
Samsung Jet initiates the ‘Samsung Mobile Unpacked’ events in London, Dubai and Singapore. The event will bring to fore the most recent developments in live technologies along with entertainment. It would also facilitate hands-on experience with the latest handset. The events will also mark the finale of a global teaser campaign; through which one fortunate winner from every country will carry a Samsung Jet.
Samsung Jet will hit the markets in India in the final week of June and is priced at Rs 24,150.
