According to the invitations sent out recently, the Samsung, Google Ice Cream Sandwich event is now scheduled to happen on October 19 in Hong Kong. It will take place at 10 a.m. as per standard Hong Kong time. Noticing the association of Samsung with these proceedings, it is very likely that we may see a new Nexus handset.

Previously, this program was titled as the ‘Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2011: Google Episode’. Planned to take place in synchronization with the CTIA in San Diego, the event was expected to happen in the same city on October 11. However, to honor the memory of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs who passed away a few days prior to this, Samsung released an official statement citing indefinite postponement of the scheduled unveiling.

The invites sent out for the previous event were a little ambiguous in terms of content. It did not point straight at the release of the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system or even a new handset from the mobile manufacturer tied to it. The invites only promised to introduce enthusiasts to ‘what’s new from Android’.

In spite of this, rumors flying around clearly suggested that the mobile world is all set to see the new Samsung Nexus device, which should probably be known as the Nexus Prime or even the Galaxy Nexus with the new version of the Android OS. According to reports by Engadget, the invites designed for this event are quite clear about what everyone should expect.

The Samsung, Google Ice Cream Sandwich event on October 19 will be streamed live from the Hong Kong venue. It can be viewed at youtube.com/android.
