The Samsung Gear S smartwatch is soon to go on sale in India and if you’re impatient to get your handset on the slick accessory, the company has started accepting pre-orders for it. Sadly, the OEM hasn’t provided any concrete release date as to when the device will hit stores.
The Samsung Gear S was launched last month at Rs 28900 and you can pre-order it through the company’s official eStore itself. Also, you won’t have to shell out the entire amount just yet as it’ll cost you just Rs 1000 to reserve a unit and cash on delivery option is also available.
Unlike most smartwatches from popular OEMs, Samsung’s one is a bit different mainly because it doesn’t need to stay connected to a smartphone at all times. The device comes with an integrated SIM card slot which allows it to act as a standalone handset for making and receiving phone calls over 2G and 3G networks.
You’ll also be able to browse the web, but with the help of third-party apps. The accessory is powered by the Tizen OS which is displayed via a 2-inch curved Super AMOLED display with 480 x 360 pixel resolution. The device is IP67-certified dust- and water-resistant and it comes with a heart rate monitor that’s fitted onto the flipside.
