Samsung Gear 2 Solo smartwatch allegedly outed with SIM support

An unannounced Samsung Gear 2 Solo smartwatch with dual SIM support thought it had secretly made its way to India until this story broke out. That’s right, the company’s upcoming gizmo failed to sneak by Zauba, a website which keeps track of imports traveling into the country and it’s not the first time this is happening.

We previously saw the SM-W750V flagship Windows Phone 8, SM-G7102 5.2-inch dual SIM phone and Galaxy Note 3 trying to slip into India without attracting any attention. Well, the Samsung Gear 2 Solo now joins the list of devices which have failed to sail in unseen by Zauba. According to the shipping information revealed, only one unit of the smartwatch has been sent over for testing from South Korea.

Samsung Gear 2 Solo Zauba

The Gear 2 Solo appears to be valued at Rs 12292, which could mean that it will carry a tag of $300 when it hits retail, says SamMobile who dug up the news through MakTechBlog. This detail is reported to be unexpected since the currently available Samsung smartwatches are tacked with a similar cost. The addition of SIM support should theoretically have raised the price of the rumored wearable.

We’ve been hearing bits and pieces about the Gear 2 Solo over the past few months, but have yet to see even a blurry shot of the device. Since the watch will technically be able to allow users to make or receive calls and should also offer the ability to send or receive text messages, could the ‘Solo’ in the name indicate that that the company is working on a standalone gadget not dependent on a smartphone to function?

If that is indeed the case, then this Samsung Gear 2 Solo rumor is one of the most exciting stories we’ve heard so far.
