Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5 specs, price, features

Samsung has taken the wraps off the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, the company probably hoping its new flagship phones will revive its fortunes amidst declining sales. There’s no release date for India out yet. But the brand has confirmed the handsets will be available globally sometime in August.

Pricing details will be announced closer to its domestic launch. In the US, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ costs $814.99 (approx Rs 53300) for the 32GB version, while the 64GB one is valued at $914.99 (about Rs 59800). The 32GB Galaxy Note 5 comes in at $739.99 (roughly Rs 48400) and the 64GB variant for $839.99 (about Rs 54800).

As for specs, Samsung has blessed them both with a similar set of features. They have a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED qHD (1440 x 2560p) screen. The devices run on Android 5.1 Lollipop layered with the TouchWiz UI. Under the hood, a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 CPU clocked at 2.1GHz (four Cortex-A57 cores) and 1.5GHz (four Cortex-A53 cores) is combined with 4GB of RAM.

Moving on to the photography department, the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ have a 16MP main lens and a 5MP front snapper. Both cameras are equipped with OIS, digital stabilization for videos too, 4K recording and Live Broadcast to YouTube. The 3000mAh non-removable battery inside is outfitted with fast charging capabilities. Neither handset has a microSD slot.

The Galaxy Note 5 comes with an improved stylus pen that is longer and supposedly more responsive. It now has the ability to take notes without the phone being unlocked. Its Air Command feature has further become more intuitive according to the brand, with the icon now appearing on all screens at any time for convenient access.
