Samsung Galaxy On8 to launch during Flipkart Big Billion Days sale

Ecommerce site Flipkart has teased the launch of a new Samsung handset, the Galaxy On8 which is to be unveiled during its Big Billion Days sale. The name of the device has been given out on the retailer’s page dedicated to the sale where it mentions ‘Samsung Galaxy On8’ among Feature Brands. So the smartphone is certain to be rolled out between October 2 and 6.

Flipkart had first teased the release of the handset last week when it advertised a new device in the Samsung Galaxy On series. The ad spoke of a phone with a super AMOLED screen and full HD resolution. It also quoted the presence of 3GB RAM and a lasting battery.

Samsung Galaxy On8

A post on Flipkart’s Facebook page on September 25 said that the next smartphone from the Samsung stable will be an ideal combination in terms of battery, storage and performance. Interestingly, the online retailer has named Galaxy On8 as one of its partners for the sale, fuelling rumors about the device’s launch.

The Galaxy On8 belongs to the mid-range handset lineup from Samsung and will be a successor to the Galaxy On5 and On7. The predecessors had been launched locally last year and were recently introduced in China. The series is targeted mainly at budget-conscious buyers in India and hence, Samsung chooses to launch these handsets in the country first.

The online teasers of the Galaxy On8 do not mention the price of the smartphone. Judging from the cost of other handsets in the lineup, it is possible that the new entrant will be pegged somewhere below Rs 20000. We’re likely to hear more details about its features before the launch next week.
