Samsung has presented its newest contenders, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3 in India with official acclamation, while simultaneously letting us in on their price points. Those who have some inkling about these devices will know that they have been crafted especially to appeal to a crowd hunting for larger screens, as is the most recent norm in the country.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 (GT-I9152) as many know by now, houses a 5.8-inch TFT LCD display and the second smartphone (GT-I9200) proffers a screen estate of 6.3 inches. People can expect an 8GB variant of the former to strike stores, whereas a 16GB model of the latter will be heading to the market shortly. As for the expandability options, both handsets permit increasing the overall capacity up to 64GB.
Similarly, each has been embedded with 1.5GB of RAM so as to take the workload off the onboard processor. While the chipsets of both accommodate two cores, the 5.8-inch handset’s CPU can run at a speed of 1.4GHz and that of the 6.3-inch gadget has been clocked at 1.7GHz. If we were to count their similarities, the smartphones individually grab a handful of Android Jelly Bean and provide space for an 8MP camera on each of their rear panels. Even their front-facing webcams run common with a 1.9MP sensor.
Although features like Sound & Shot, S Travel, Story Album and more, remain mutual in the smartphones, the GT-I9200 exclusively parades Air View which had formerly been introduced through the GS4. A 2,600mAh Li-ion battery can be seen powering the smaller device, whilst the other one houses a 3,200mAh Li-ion power pack.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 has been unveiled at a price of Rs 25,100, whereas the 6.3-inch handset has been pinned at higher amount of Rs 31,490. The former can be found on the official eStore flashing a retail tag of Rs 24,900 and it will begin shipping from June 3, but the latter has yet to arrive on the portal.
