Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 announced, to be exhibited at CES 2014

The next iteration of Samsung’s Android-based snapper, the Galaxy Camera 2 has been announced, but there are no details pertaining to the availability of the gadget as yet. The device will be on display at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas starting from next Tuesday and the OEM should disclose the relevant details at the expo.

This new device appears pretty similar to the previous generation snapper as it retains a lot of design elements. It can not only capture good quality images, but also edit as well as share them without any help from an external gadget. A 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LCD screen is placed on the rear panel for helping photographers compose and preview shots as well as navigate through multiple applications installed in it.

The Galaxy Camera 2 is based on the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS and makes the most of a 16.3MP BSI CMOS image sensor. A wide angle lens with 21x optical zoom has been integrated in the snapper that boasts of optical image stabilization to capture blur-free images. A 1.6GHz quad core processor and 2GB of RAM are responsible for powering it up for a smooth operation.

Although the shooter has 8GB of onboard memory, only 2.8GB is available for users and thus the company has carved out a microSD card slot on its chassis. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to 64GB. Also, each unit of the camera offers 50GB of free Dropbox storage for two years.
