Samsung brings two dual SIM phones to Indian market

Samsung B-5722 Users who want to change their handsets, but still want to retain the dual SIM quality fret no further. Samsung is all set to introduce two new Dual SIM phones- B-5722 Dual SIM GSM and Duos 259 CDMA and GSM. With the launch of these phones, the company’s Dual SIM phone list will include 6 handsets in all.

The Dual SIM mode allows the user to operate both SIMs concurrently. For instance, if a person is busy on SIM 1 and gets a call on SIM 2, the person can check on the caller and accept or reject the call accordingly. Both phones from Samsung have certain impressive features which seem to be new to the category of dual SIM handsets.

Director Mobile & IT, Ranjit Yadav, comments that, “Consumers are showing a growing preference for Dual SIM phones both in the GSM as well as the CDMA space. We are working at catering to this growing consumer need by introducing new differentiated Dual SIM handsets that come with the unique Samsung advantage of Dual Active mode.”

The Samsung B-5722 GSM + GSM Dual SIM Active Phone has been designed with a 2.8-inch full touchscreen. It also sports a special dedicated SIM switching key for easy navigation from SIM 1 to SIM 2. Moreover, the phone comes with SNS quick links and Instant Messenger as well. It is packed with entertainment features like stereo FM with recording, and 8GB memory card. Users can enjoy talk time of up to 13.4 hours supported with 1200mAH battery. Like the B-5722, Duos 259 also supports stereo FM and memory storage up to 8GB. The phone is powered by 1140mAH battery, sports a 2.2-inch TFT 262k color screen display and comes with 1.3MP camera.

Ranjit Yadav also mentioned that “We are looking at driving our growth through relevance and innovation, both in terms of the handsets as well as the application space.” Samsung is looking to increase the volume of their Dual SIM phones by at least 15%. Alongside the launch of these phones, the company is considering the addition of a few more applications to its current list as well. Yadav added that Samsung is looking to add another 10 applications to its Fun Club by the end of this month.

The Java application store on Samsung Fun Club has been administered to allow downloads of games, music, ringtones, etc. As of now, users can download up to 40 applications ranging from Communication to Messaging, Entertainment et al. The applications currently available on the Java store can be downloaded on Corby series, Metro, Star series and on the Dual SIM phones. The company is further planning to introduce its proprietary Bada platform in the second quarter of the year and is in the midst of talks with Indian application developers for the same.

The B-5722 Dual SIM phone is tagged at Rs.10, 650, while the Duos 259 handset is valued at Rs.7,799 respectively.
