The Samsung ATIV S has taken the spotlight at the IFA event in Berlin by inaugurating the company’s WP8 lineup. Cast in an aluminum chassis, it measures just about 8.7mm in thickness.

Running through the specs of this handset – it houses a 1.5GHz dual core processor that teams up with 1GB of RAM to enable multitasking. In terms of hoarding capacity, users can opt for either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Needless to say, both variants come with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The company has employed a 2,300mAh battery to power up the device.

ATIV S Back

“Today at IFA in Berlin, Samsung lifted the curtain on its first Windows Phone 8 device, the ATIV S. This is just the first in a big lineup of new hardware that’s coming with Windows Phone 8, but it’s a seriously impressive opening salvo. Samsung built the ATIV S with the latest and greatest technology, especially for anyone who wants a superphone that’s equal parts powerhouse and head turner,” reads a post on the official Windows Phone blog.

Another prime highlight here is the 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display that graces the front panel. The screen is layered with the ‘tough and lightweight’ Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for added protection. Placed above the touchscreen is a 1.9MP camera which facilitates video conferencing while on the move. Snap-happy users can also take advantage of the 8MP AF rear-facing snapper for imaging purposes.
