Saavn 3.0 music streaming app available for Android now

The Saavn 3.0 music streaming app for Android has hit the Google Play store in India and is available for download now. The tool boasts of a revamped user interface and several new features. This particular version of the application was launched for the iOS platform last month.

According to the company, Saavn 3.0 was designed in collaboration with the Android team. The improvements introduced here include support for multiple device sizes, rendering the service fully operational on Android tablets. Users will also be able to view full-screen album art during audio playback and the app has been tweaked to work better in places with weak connectivity. The Android platform is a major market for Saavn as around 70% of its listeners are from Google’s mobile OS.

The company’s co-founder, Anurag Gupta, also notes that the new application will work well with different types of hardware configurations. For those new to Saavn, it was launched back in 2006. Like Spotify, Pandora and Jango, this service provides music streaming, but focuses mostly on Bollywood content, delivering tracks from latest hits to old classics.

Content is delivered in a bunch of Indian languages covering Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Malayalam apart from English. Users can listen to a wide catalog of music for free by simply searching by song name or artists. Custom playlists can also be created, while pre-defined ones are available too. With the Pro service, the company offers an ad-free experience, offline listening and high quality 320kbps audio streams.
