Reliance Jio’s offering 70% buyback on the Samsung Galaxy S9+

Reliance Jio has decided to offer 2 separate deals on the Samsung Galaxy S9+’ 256GB variant to make it a bit more affordable to consumers. One gives away Rs 6000 as cashback, while the other hands over 70% of the phone’s price as buyback.

These deals are only valid on the 256GB Galaxy S9+. The rest of the gang namely the 64GB Galaxy S9, 256GB Galaxy S9, and 64GB Galaxy S9+ will only be eligible for Reliance Jio’s Rs 4999 plan. The scheme dishes out 1TB of data, a free Jio Prime membership, unlimited calling and texting, and free access to Jio apps.

Anyone who snaps up the 256GB Galaxy S9+ with the intention of returning it after a year will have to keep a few things in mind. Firstly, the buyback value is calculated on the basis of the invoice value, excluding taxes. So while the smartphone officially sells for Rs 72900, the actual buyback might not be a straight 70% calculation of that figure AKA Rs 51030.

It’ll still be quite a lot though, which brings us to the second point. The buyback amount is handed back in the form of a voucher, not cash. This coupon has to be used within 3 months at any Reliance Digital outlet by 15 June 2019.

Reliance Jio has also placed another condition, requiring owners to recharge for a minimum of Rs 2500 in a year. The Galaxy S9+ also has to be returned in working condition without any significant damage. You can take up the deal via Jio’s website, Jio Stores, or Reliance Digital locations.
