Reliance JioPhone goes up for pre-bookings, specs revealed

The JioPhone has officially gone up for pre-booking today, putting an end to nearly a month of waiting. Interested buyers will have to shell out Rs 500 to lay a claim to the handset. The rest will have to be paid when the device hits availability in September.

To recap, the Reliance JioPhone requires a Rs 1500 security deposit. The amount will be handed back after 3 years have passed by and the phone had been returned. This effectively makes the price of the smartphone Rs 0, but there’s a long lock-in period till that happens.

Customers can pre-order the JioPhone by heading to Reliance Jio’s site, logging into the MyJio app, or visiting an offline shop. As per PTI, the company plans on making 50 lakh units available every week starting from September
