Relax, your lost Android smartphone can now call you

Android Device Manager is a pretty useful app that was released by Google last year, and it has now been blessed with a neat new feature which aims to make it even better. If you accidentally lose a device or some wretched person manages to steal it, you can prompt them to call you back.

But what will they call you on, since your device is already lost? Here’s how it works; if you lose your phone, instead of crying over it you need to find someone else with an Android phone which has Google’s Device Manager installed on it. Or you can also head over to your nearest PC and open its web version.

By entering your Google password, you can use the software to remotely lock your device in order to keep your data safe. Following that, you will need to enter the phone number of someone who’s near you. This is when the person who’s holding your lost device in their hands will receive a message on it to call the entered number with just one click.

Of course, it depends upon the intentions of the person in question, whether they will call you or not but it’s a pretty cool feature to have on your Android smartphones. Other attributes that the Device Manager app proffers include the ability to locate your lost handset using GPS. Moreover, you can remotely erase all your data if you do not want it to fall in wrong hands.

It’s always safe to keep an app like this one installed on your smartphones and tablets in case of emergencies. Head over to the Play store to download Android Device Manager if you haven’t done that yet.
