Qualcomm has declared the addition of a number of new S4 chipsets to its Snapdragon S4 series of mobile processors for smartphones and tablets. The company has also upgraded its collection of the S1 mobile processors with certain performance enhancing features.

The S1 mobile processors were created with the aim of catering to entry-level smartphones and the four devices in this range receive new features that comprise of the MSM7225A, MSM7625A, MSM7227A and MSM7627A. They are now capable of delivering supposedly better performance to entry-level smartphone users, especially those who would need help in adapting to 3G from 2G.

Our next-generation hardware, optimized for use with our software suite, facilitates best-in-class performance and power for every smart device segment, from mass-market smartphones to high-performance tablets.”

Joining the MSM8960, MSM8930 and APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 mobile processors are the new S4 chipsets namely, the MSM8660A, MSM8630, MSM8627, MSM8260A, MSM8230, MSM8227, APQ8060A and APQ8030. The latest processors feature Qualcomm’s wireless modem technologies such as HSPA+, LTE FDD, EV-DO, TD-SCDMA, LTE TDD and Wi-Fi standards.

These S4 mobile offerings have been engineered specially for OEMs to enable the introduction of S4-based devices with advanced mobile architecture ranging from tablets to basic and high-end smartphones.

According to Qualcomm, smartphones and tablets running on Snapdragon S4 mobile processors are most likely to debut early next year.
