Staying connected with loved ones via mobile video chat is now possible even if users possess mobile phones based on different platforms. That’s because, Skype owned Qik has announced the availability of a new Qik Video Connect app for Android and updated version of the same app for iPhone.

According to a recent post on the Skype blog, the latest Qik Video Connect app allows users to engage in live video chat across the iOS and Android platforms. In case there is no internet availability, it also permits sending video mails to other Oik users. In addition to this, users are provided with innovative options to easily share videos with multiple friends on Facebook or Twitter or even directly upload them on YouTube.

With this innovative video app, anyone can now make live video calls over 3G and 4G as well as Wi-Fi networks. The Qik app proffers enhanced battery life, smoother video and improved image quality through deep hardware integration in partnership with several manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC and Dell.

Android device owners simply have to visit the Android Market to download the free Qik Video Connect app, while it is available through iTunes App Store for all iPhone users.
