Penguin, Mobifusion partner to offer Books on Mobile Phones

Mobifusion and Penguin Group Logo Penguin Books India, a major publishing house has partnered with Mobifusion, a developer and distributor of mobile technologies. Together, the companies will offer books on mobile phones to users across India.

According to Mike Bryan, CEO and president, Penguin Books India, “We’re excited to partner with innovators at Mobifusion and engage in interactive communications with the millions of mobile users who are also avid readers.”

“At Penguin, we aspire to make great literature in all its forms available to the widest possible audience and this is a very significant step in that journey as we look to build a solid mobile reading community across India”, Genevieve Shore, Penguin Group’s global digital director, added.

Using this service, mobile users in India will get to read chapters of the books on their handsets.

The first three books on offer by Penguin and Mobifusion are:

  • ‘The Joy in Loving: A Guide to Daily Living with Mother Teresa which has been complied by Jaya Chaliha and Edward Le Joly
  • The Path to Tranquility by the Dalai Lama
  • The Book of Prayer edited by Renuka Narayanan
  • Initially, the Penguin-Mobifusion partnership will focus on the Indian market. In time, the service will be launched globally too.

    According to Pavan Mandhani, founder CEO of Mobifusion, “Indian mobile subscribers are demanding more branded, personalized and localized content from their providers and Mobifusion is committed to actively supporting the need of the country’s users using our patented technologies.”
