Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 rugged Android slate released, priced at Rs 75000

If you thought that the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active was ridiculously priced, you’re really going to have a hard time digesting the Rs 75000 retail tag on the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2. The rugged tablet has been officially launched in India and it’s expected to go on sale in the coming days.

Now, such a high asking amount would make perfect sense if you’re getting some pretty beefy hardware. But that’s now quite what the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 has to offer. The tablet’s main purpose is to deliver enhanced durability which will be able take on even the toughest of environments and the company appears to have nailed that part.

So how tough exactly is the Panasonic device? For starters, it meets MIL-STD-810G standards which means that it can withstand drops from a height of 5 feet, shocks, vibration, high and low temperatures, humidity and even explosive atmosphere amongst others. The body is also all-weather IP65 dust- and water-resistant.

The slate isn’t slim and it’s by no means lightweight as it measures around 18mm thick and tips the scales back by around 544 grams. On the hardware front, the Toughpad FZ-B2 comes with a quad core Intel Celeron processor and it runs Android 4.4 KitKat. There’s also 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, a microSD card slot which supports up to 64GB and a 3220mAh battery which can deliver up to 7 hours of activity.
