Orange UK to offer iPhone 3GS next month

Back in September, Orange had signed an agreement with Apple. With this agreement, the company acquired the rights to retail the iPhone 3G as well as the iPhone 3GS in the UK. According to Guardian, Orange will start offering the iPhone 3GS from November 10 onwards, a day after Apple’s two-year exclusive contract with O2 expires. Reportedly, offering the iPhone has enabled Orange to maintain its place as UK’s largest operator.

The iPhone 3GS claims to be faster than the earlier iPhone versions. It allows users to quickly launch various applications. The 3 megapixel camera of the iPhone 3GS allows users to shoot videos as well as capture still images. The videos can also be edited and shared with friends and family via social networking sites like YouTube.

The iPhone 3GS features a full virtual QWERTY keypad that be viewed in both portrait and landscape mode. The Spotlight feature enables users to easily and conveniently find contacts, email, calendars, and notes stored on the iPhone.

This move by Orange is said to heat up its competition with O2. But this competition will take on a different twist when Vodafone UK starts offering the iPhone 3GS early next year. In the mean while, Orange plans to sell the 3GS via its own shops as well as Phones4U.
