Oppo Mirror 5 with diamond-inspired back panel launched for Rs 15990

The Oppo Mirror 5 has been launched in India for Rs 15990 with a special finish on its rear panel. It’s pretty much the global version of the 5S announced in Taiwan last month, except with a lower screen resolution and no 4G LTE support.

The handset now sports a 5-inch qHD TFT (960 × 540p) screen, down from a 720p one. The USP of the phone remains its design. The back of the Oppo Mirror 5 features a diamond-like appearance made from individual pieces of glass with different reflective properties.

The Mirror 5 runs on a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor combined with an Adreno 306 GPU. Its daily activities are supported by 2GB of RAM and a 2420mAh battery. The device contains 16GB of internal memory which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The Oppo handset comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Color OS 2.1. It has an 8MP rear snapper with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing lens. The phone is a dual-SIM device with support for a microSIM and a nanoSIM card. It also has an in-built Smart Remote Control app which the company says works with most household gadgets.

While the Mirror 5 looks good for a mid-range phone, its specs are disappointing for its price tag. The 16GB variant of the Moto G (3rd gen) costs less at Rs 12999 and offers a 5-inch 720p display, IPX7 water protection, a 13MP main camera with dual-LED flash, a 2470mAh battery and 4G connectivity.

The Oppo Mirror 5 will be released across India this week and can be bought in blue and white colors.
