Oppo India unveils Social Media Diwali contest

Oppo Mobiles India has rolled out a contest on social media for the festive season of Diwali and it comes with a catch that is quite easily one of the most efficient ways to turn away potential fans. You’re actually welcome to stop reading right now in case you have no plans to buy a new smartphone for another week at least.

That’s because the online competition which has been announced by the Chinese mobile brand will only allow you to participate in it if you purchase an Oppo phone on any day starting from October 17 and ending on Diwali. The OEM’s CEO of India operations Tom Lu, is calling it a Social Media Diwali contest that’s fun and interactive.

The giveaways include consumer electronics worth Rs 5 lakhs, according to a post on The Economic Times. Apart from the unnamed product prizes, one Oppo N1 unit each will be awarded to 10 winners. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, who has been signed up as brand ambassador for the company, will be scribbling his autograph on the aforesaid handsets.

All buyers across India who cough up the change for any Oppo phone during the time-frame we’ve mentioned above, will be eligible to take part in the contest. It doesn’t matter whether the handset has been bought via online vendors or through physical retail outlets. Participants are required to visit the company’s Facebook page and fill in an application form.

The winners of this social media contest will be ‘judged’ by Oppo’s mascot Ollie, based on the text, audio clip or video they submit. The message is supposed to describe the participant’s wish for Diwali.
