OnePlus X renders leaked, new design and launch in October

For some reason, a new smartphone going by the name OnePlus X is expected to be launched this October, while a lot of fans are still to get a shot at buying the latest handset from the Chinese company. Renders of the device have been leaked along with a couple of details. Additionally, while its ‘flagship killer’ cousin’s price starts at $329, it’s expected to cost at least $100 less.

So according to the rumor, the OnePlus X might be a mid-range phone pegged at $249. A 5-inch touchscreen display of unknown resolution is anticipated to be nailed across its front. Since the manufacturer is supposed to be cutting corners to offer it at a relatively affordable rate, the year-old Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor is going to be powering it.

The smartphone will look better than the OnePlus 2, if the images posted by Gizmochina are to be considered the real thing. Unnamed factory sources apparently say it will sport a more premium appearance than the current flagship which has incidentally been criticized for the lack of a Quad HD screen, NFC or wireless charging. Carl Pei, CEO of the company, has previously mentioned that a new device would be let loose before the end of the year.

There has been talk about a ‘mini’ handset, though it seems like the brand has settled on the moniker OnePlus X. The phone may also be carrying a fingerprint sensor on its back panel. Another tidbit revealed by the leaked pictures of the device, is the presence of dual cameras on its rear. While the unconfirmed information about its release date insists it’ll be out in October, we’re not totally convinced about the veracity of this detail.

After all, the costlier cousin of the OnePlus X only started reaching customers in August. October feels too early for the debut of the mid-range smartphone, but we could be wrong of course.
