OnePlus X expected on October 29, company launches new teaser

A new teaser for the OnePlus X has gone up on the Facebook page for OnePlus India not long after the first one which confirmed that the company would be launching the smartphone on October 29. The latest promotional post for it says ‘The ebb and flow of design means we’re constantly rethinking our tools and materials.’ And it also adds that the device is coming soon.

The older teaser made it known that the OnePlus X would be unveiled in India itself, proving what an important market the country is for the burgeoning Chinese brand. As far as the official word is concerned, no information is available on the phone. We would have stayed in the dark about the specifications if it hadn’t been for Amazon India which jumped the gun on the announcement by inadvertently publishing the product page.

OnePlus X Teaser

Apart from adding to the confusion over whether the upcoming smartphone would be called the OnePlus X or OnePlus Mini, the leak revealed some juicy tidbits about it. Accordingly, it might sport a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD screen with a pixel density of 401ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Since its price tag is supposed to be around $249 or a little above Rs 16000, OnePlus was expected to economize on the processor.

So an octa core MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 processor instead of a Qualcomm chip is said to be making its way into the OnePlus X. The handset may run on 2GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based OxygenOS 3.0 software, and be powered by a 2450mAh battery. Two of its more interesting features are reportedly a sort of iPhone 3D Touch-like display technology and ‘Side Touch.’ OnePlus hasn’t bothered to tease any such special functions.

The version of 3D Touch on the OnePlus X called ClearForce Technology should be able to detect how hard your press on the screen and react accordingly. ‘Side Touch’ might allow for quick and easy access to applications from the side of the display. If the OnePlus Mini is actually a totally different phone, then there will be plenty of surprises in store for October 29.
